How did Jennifer Lawrence snag the top spot on my list? Simple elegance. Wearing a fail-safe strapless gown in a neutral hue, her ensemble enabled her natural beauty to shine through. She looks simply stunning. And let’s be honest, only J Law would be able to make falling up the stairs look graceful.

Although that is just a snapshot of some of the dresses donning the red carpet. I also wanted to point out some of the Red Carpet themes I picked up on.

  • Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals! From dresses to lip color, pale hues painted the evening, standing out beautifully against the backdrop of the red carpet.
  • Metallics. If you can’t glimmer and shine at the Oscars, then where else is it acceptable to do so? Shimmery golds, silvers and even gunmetal grays appeared all over the red carpet last night, many of them paired with intricately designed embroideries and bead-work.
  • Strapless gowns. These were in abundance last evening. Some attendees opted for strapless with a bold color statement, and others had gowns with intricate detailing that spoke for itself. Regardless, many woman had their own unique twist on this red carpet staple.
  • Soft up-dos. It never ceases to amaze me how these complicated up-dos can look so effortless. This elegant hair style made the women donning them look so naturally beautiful.
  • Pixie cut. To the women sporting the crop cuts…props to you!! These hair styles showed off their gorgeous facial features, proving that short hair can really be elegant and feminine.

That’s all I have for my red carpet run down. The fashions were truly as remarkable as the show itself.

From the dresses and attire, to the singing and dancing…not the mention the plethora of talented nominees…the Academy really outdid themselves this year, and I’m certain this was my favorite Oscars to date.

How about you? Who were your favorites?

xoxo
